Update: As of 6:05 p.m., Ocala Police say State Road 200 is now open
Ocala police are asking motorists to stay off a portion of State Road 200 due to a broken gas line that needs repairs.
According to authorities, a construction crew working in the area struck a gas line. Ocala Fire Rescue officials said a four-inch commercial line was hit.
The incident has caused major delays on the roadway, causing officers to close part of the usually busy roadway. Officers said the affected area extends from the 3200 block to the 3600 block of SR 200.

Rescue officials said customers at two nearby businesses were evacuated for safety reasons. Law officials said a few restaurants have decided to close because of the line break. Police expect traffic along SR 200 to remain closed for several more hours.
The call came in around 3:45 p.m., law enforcement officials said.
