Whitman-Hanson Student to face discipline after FBI warns the police on social media post

Hanson-Whitman-Hanson Regional High School was placed on Monday 7 April on a residence order after a student reportedly placed an imminent position on social media, according to officials.

The FBI has informed the Hanson-Politie of the threat at about 1 p.m. and the school was immediately placed on a residence order from an abundance of caution, wrote police chief of Hanson, Michael Miksch, police chief Timothy Hanlon and chief inspector Jeffrey Szymaniak in a press release.

The police of Hanson and Whitman identified the student who reportedly made the position and considered it non-credible. The school has lifted the order of residence around 1:25 pm, according to officials.

The observed threat, posted on Snapchat, was reportedly made by a student at the school, wrote Szymaniak in an e -mail to families. It is unclear what the student has posted or how the FBI became aware of the message.

Families asked to inform students about social media abuse

Police and officials of the school district asked families to inform students about the consequences and dangers of abusing social media.

“Students must be aware of the use of social media that platforms are monitored and their words can be removed from the context and can cause the alarm,” said Szymaniak.

Will students be confronted with disciplinary measures?

According to officials, the student will be confronted with disciplinary actions in accordance with the District student code. The incident remains investigated by Hanson's police
