West Palm Beach cancels the popular concert series in the city center, film evening event

    West Palm Beach Nixt Two popular old community events along the city center of the city and says that they will be replaced by “more diverse and fascinating experiences”.

    The two events, “Screen on the Green” and “Sunday on the Waterfront”, have attracted people to gather at Flagler Drive for at least 15 years.

    Screen on the Green was a Friday evening film event that once a month focused on families with free, child -friendly impressions. The last event is a September 12 -tones of “The Pacifier” with Vin Diesel in the lead.

    Sunday on the Waterkant was a free concert series that brought musical versions to the Meyer Amphitheatre on a Sunday a month. The last event will be a concert of 21 September of the Florida R&B and Pop Band Mischief.

    City leaders strive for events 'in more parts of our city'

    Both events have been going on at least since 2010 and passed by three mayors, pausing during the COVID-19 Pandemie.

    The city did not say why it cancel the long -term programs, but a spokesperson said that the city wants to create new events “outside our waterfront in the center.” City administrators will reveal 'new and re -devised events' next year, the spokesperson said.

    “Although 'Screen on the Green' and 'Sunday on the Waterfront' have been popular traditions, we are delighted to renew our programming to bring more diverse and fascinating experiences to residents and visitors, in more parts of our city,” said Kathleen Joy, the communication director of the city.

    Commissioner Christy Fox, who represents the city center of the city, did not respond to a message that was looking for comment.
