US government agency drops grok after mechhitler -refund, says Report Says

Xai apparently lost a government contract after an adjustment of grok that caused an anti -Semitic collapse in which the Chatbot Hitler praised and declared Mechhitler last month.

Despite the scandal, Xai announced that its products would soon be available for federal employees to buy through the General Services Administration. At the time, Xai claimed that this was an “important milestone” for her government company.

But Wired assessed e -mails and spoke with insiders from the government, which showed that GSA leaders abruptly decided to drop Xai's grock of their contract offer. That decision to pull the plug came after leadership reportedly hurried to make grok available as quickly as possible after a convincing sales meeting with Xai in June.

It is unclear what exactly the GSA caused to turn the course, but two sources told Wired that they “believe that Xai was drawn because of the anti -Semitic tirade of grock.”

At the moment, the “Grok for Government” website of Xai has not been updated to display GSAs supposed removal of grok from an offer of which Xai noted that “any federal government department, agency or office has allowed access to Xai's Frontier AI products.”

Xai did not respond to Ars' request to comment and has not yet confirmed that the GSA offer is off the table. If the Wired report is accurate, apparently the decision of GSA apparently also had no influence on the decision of the army to continue with an XAI contract of $ 200 million, the US Department of Defense last month.

The GO-TO tools of the government come from Xai's Rivals

If grok is cut from the contract, it would suggest that the collapse of grok may have been the worst possible moment for Xai, that the “world's biggest supercomputer” is to try the largest AI rivals as quickly as possible.

Grok apparently seemed the potential to become a more commonly used tool if federal employees chose Xai's models. Through the AI action plan of Donald Trump, the president has emphasized speed in the same way, so that federal employees insist to accept AI as quickly as possible. Although Xai may no longer be involved in that broad push, other AI companies such as OpenAi, Anthropic and Google have worked with the government to help Trump get it done and to take advantage in the long term if their tools are anchored in certain agencies.
