KYIV (REUTERS) – Kyiv's delegation During a meeting with allies in London, this week confirmed the principles on which conversations about the end of the Russian war in Ukraine are based, including never recognizing any part of Ukrainian territory as Russian, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.
Spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi told a briefing that the Ukrainian delegation had also excluded that every country has a veto about what Alliances could make Ukraine and not let his armed forces be imposed.
President Volodyymyr Zenskiy said on Thursday that the conversations between Ukrainian and Western officials in London had not been “easy” on Wednesday, but were “constructive”.
“No third country has the right to express the choice of Ukraine for alliances and partnerships,” said Tykhyi.
Ukraine has repeatedly said that it wants to join NATO and sees membership as a guarantee against any aggressive action by Russia, which invaded Ukraine in 2022.
Moscow says that Ukraine should not get to NATO and that Ukraine has called on to be demilitarized.
Zelenskiy repeated this week that Ukraine would not recognize the Russian occupation of Crimea, which was annexed by Moscow in 2014. He was criticized the next day by US President Donald Trump, who is looking for a quick end of the war in Ukraine.
