Donald Trump claimed on Friday that among the thefts at stores in major cities, “hundreds” of people are running out with stolen refrigerators.
Speaking to the National Rifle Association convention in Indianapolis on Friday, the former president said that “gangs of hundreds” of young people in major cities are “attacking” department stores.
“And they run in by the hundreds, and they run out with refrigerators and air conditioners and big things — big, small, everything,” Trump said.
“Fur coats, coats without fur, whatever they’re carrying. They are emptying the stores.”
Twitter users didn’t buy the claim about the thefts, and one joked that carrying refrigerators weighing hundreds of pounds would be good for their backs.
His comments at the NRA convention also include focusing on transgender health care and enlisting the help of the Food and Drug Administration to investigate if he is reelected.
