Trump promised a drill tree, but the American energy industry has not been interested

These warnings even come as Trump has been installed friendly faces to regulate the oil and gas sector, also at the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Ministry of the Interior, the last federal countries of which manages to auction more oil and gas lease on those countries.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm for an opportunity to make investments. But there is also a lot of caution to ensure that if there are legal reforms, they will remain,” said Kevin Book, Managing Director of Research at Clearview Energy Partners, who produces analyzes for energy companies and investors.

The recently adopted a large nice invoice law contains provisions that require four onshore and two offshore lease each year, which reduces the minimum royalty rate to 12.5 percent of 16.67 percent and speculative leasing brings back – when countries that are not hindered enough are rented for less money – that was stopped in 2022.

“Pro-energy policy plays a crucial role in strengthening domestic production,” said a spokesperson for the American Petroleum Institute, the best American oil and gas industrial group. “The new tax legislation unlocks opportunities for safe, responsible development in critical resources of resources to deliver the affordable, reliable fuel Americans that are on trust.”

Because about half of the federal royalties ends with the states and places where drilling takes place, “budgets will be hit hard in these oil and gas communities,” said Rowland-Shea of American progress. In the meantime, she said, drilling on public countries can pollute the air, increase noise levels, cause spilling or causing leaks and limiting movement for both people and animals in the wild.

Earlier this year, the congress killed an EPA rule that was completed in November that oil and gas companies would have charged for distracting surplus methane from their activities.

“People in the Trump camp have long said that the Biden administration was killing by maintaining these regulations on speculative leasing and reinvection in methane pollution,” said Rowland-Shea. “And yet under Biden we saw the highest production of oil and gas in history.”
