Trump issues bizarre statement attacking both George and Kellyanne Conway

Former President Donald Trump made a bizarre statement on Thursday attacking conservative lawyer George Conway, while simultaneously digging up his wife, Kellyanne Conway.

George Conway, one of the founders of the anti-Trump PAC The Lincoln Project, is one of Trump’s most prominent conservative critics. Kellyanne Conway was a high-ranking White House adviser to Trump until she stepped down in August 2020 to focus on her family.

In the statement tweeted by his spokesperson on Thursday, Trump shared a screenshot from a tweet from a conservative commentator who asked, “Is George Conway okay…?” with a photo of the lawyer looking nervous on CNN.

“No, he is mentally ill, a very sick man,” Trump wrote before blaming his former adviser.

“I don’t know what Kellyanne did to him, but it must have been really bad. She has completely destroyed this man — his mind has been completely shot,” Trump said.

George Conway appears regularly in the media to analyze the former president’s escalating legal troubles and incriminating blunders.

He responded to Thursday’s statement with a tweet that focused on Trump’s own mental state and another that referred to an allegation of sexual assault against the former president.

Conway and Trump had taken several hits on Twitter before Trump was banned from the social media site last year for spreading disinformation about the 2020 election and inciting the U.S. Capitol uprising.

In May 2020, after The Lincoln Project ran an ad titled “Mourning in America” accusing Trump of his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, Trump offered a similar attack by tweeting: “I don’t know what Kellyanne with her crazy loser of a husband . . . but it must have been really bad.”

It is not clear whether the relationship between Trump and Kellyanne Conway has soured. She defended him on Fox News a few months ago.
