    • Trump called himself “former” president in a Fox News interview, but quickly returned.

    • “I hate to use the word ‘former’ because I have a lot of problems with what happened,” he added.

    • Trump has yet to admit he lost the 2020 election in public, although reports said he did so in private.

Donald Trump referred to himself as “former” president in a Fox News interview, but quickly bounced back.

Trump appeared on Fox News Wednesday to speak with host Sean Hannity. He was interviewed about the investigation into his New York business practices, and the FBI’s investigation into his handling of classified information after his retirement.

In the interview, Trump discussed security at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, where FBI agents retrieved treasure chests of government documents, including classified information that should only be kept in high-security government facilities.

“I think we had good security. As you know, we had a great secret service, they’re incredible people. And they’re all over Mar-a-Lago, like a former president happens, etc,” Trump said.

“I hate to use the word ‘former’ because I have a lot of problems with what happened,” Trump said at the time, trying to turn it around.

Trump referred to his refusal to admit defeat in the 2020 election to Joe Biden, and his continued promotion of baseless claims that the election was stolen from him.

Despite claiming that he should still be president, Trump has accepted Secret Service details assigned to former presidents.

Trump’s public claims that he believes he should be president contrast with several reports he personally admits he lost.
