Trump claimed he could have had Musk beg for his help when he was president.

He also accused Musk of making “missile ships to nowhere” and “driverless cars that crash.”
Former President Donald Trump escalated his feud with billionaire Elon Musk in a series of Truth Social posts on Tuesday.
On Tuesday evening, Trump wrote three messages to Musk, just a day after Musk tweeted that it was time for the former president to “sail into the sunset.”
“When Elon Musk came to the White House to ask me for help with all his many subsidized projects, whether it be electric cars that don’t run long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocket ships going nowhere, without what subsidies he would his was worthless, and if I told myself he was a huge Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, ‘drop on your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it,” Trump claimed in a message, as if he criticized at least two of Musk’s companies, Tesla and SpaceX.
Trump also appeared to be beaming at the Twitter lawsuit in which Musk has become embroiled.
“Now Elon should focus on getting it out of the Twitter clutter because he could be in debt $44 billion for something that might be worthless. Also a lot of competition for electric cars!” Trump wrote.
Trump lent Musk a helping hand while he was in office. In 2020, for example, Musk received Trump’s backing to defy local authorities and reopen his California Tesla factory amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Musk seemed unfazed by Trump’s insults on Tuesday. In response to a Twitter user who tagged Musk in a screenshot of Trump’s post on Tuesday, the billionaire responded with a tweet of its own, stating:: “Lmaoo.”
Musk followed up his response with a mocking animated depiction of “The Simpsons” character, Grampa Simpson, who appeared to be screaming and waving his fist out of a window.
The recent spat between Musk and Trump started after the former president called Musk a “bullshit artist” at a weekend rally, accusing the billionaire of lying about voting for him in 2016.
In response, Musk tweeted that he doesn’t “hate” Trump but felt it was time for the former president to “hang up his hat”.
Musk said in June that he would likely support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as president in 2024. However, neither Trump nor DeSantis has officially stated that they intend to run, despite being popular favorites for the race.
Representatives of Musk at SpaceX and Tesla did not immediately respond to Insider’s requests for comment.
