The sale of the retail trade is less than expected in February

Retail sales rose less than expected in February and saw downward revisions for January in the midst of the fear that the American economy could grow slower than Wall Street initially thought he started 2025.

The headline the retail sales rose by 0.2% in February, less than the 0.6% increased economists, according to data from the Census Bureau. Retail sales in January were lowered to a fall of 1.2% compared to an earlier reading that showed a decrease of 0.9% in the month.

The control group in Thursday's release, which excludes various volatile categories and factors in the gross domestic product (GDP) reading for the quarter, rose by 1%. Economists had expected an increase of 0.4%. However, the sales number of January were revised to a fall of 1%, lower than the initial decrease of 0.8% reported.

The sale of February, excluding car and gas, rose by 0.5%, above consensus estimates for an increase of 0.4%.

The February report is amid a shifting story about the US economy. The January sales lecture had marked the worst retail sales report in a year and was one of the first data points to kick off the repetition of the growth export of the US economy last month.

Since economic predictions have been cases in the midst of uncertainty about the rate policy of President Donald Trump, important stock indexes have been completed. The S&P 500 would close the trade session on Monday on 19 February more than 8% from the most recent record.
