The next electric GLC from Mercedes is running great – we drove the prototype

The sports environment is good, controlled and comfortable with ride comfort while they are still sturdy. If you bomb a back -road, I see that I am entertained by the setting, although it is not an AMG sports car. It is also not as sturdy as something like a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

With a good range, very fast charging and a wonderful ride, the GLC with EQ technology should be a success.

However, the comfort setting is excellent. As part of the program we were invited to control all generations of Mercedes S-Class vehicles, and I had just climbed from a current W223 generation car for my prototype drive. The GLC waves along the highway in almost the same way as the S-Class. It has the air suspension of the S-Class, but having the same hardware does not mean that it is coordinated in the same way.

It is almost creepy how the heavy crossover sails together with almost the same comfort level as the suspension in the Mercedes-Benz flagship. Although I really like the Cadillac Lyriq, the GLC with EQ technology is the clear winner when it comes to comfort in the chic setting.

It is difficult to find complaints, although my time behind the wheel was limited. Yet it was good to experience the GLC prototype in a short period on different road surfaces; That is what makes test facilities great. But it was not enough time to live with the vehicle, find all his weaknesses and to give a solid final judgment.

That said, my first impressions are solid. If Mercedes engineers can deliver the charging performance and get close to his reach estimates, it must have a solid EV on his hands. If the final version is just as comfortable to drive – and sporty when it has to be – while it is able to drag children, groceries and equipment such as a family car, the GLC with EQ technology should find favor.
