The new SOS -Alert from Pebblebee Tracker reminds us that updates can be good for gadgets

Pebblebee adds a free, useful function to already purchased devices.

Today it has announced that his clip Universal Bluetooth trackers, who are compatible with iOS and Android devices, are updated to record a warning function that a siren and the light sells when a user wants help.

Pebblebee started selling Android trackers in three different form factors in May 2024: an airtag-like clip version, a credit card-shaped map SKU and the smallest version, tag. In October 2024, Pebblebee announced universal versions of those trackers that can use both Google's Find My Device and Apple's Find My Networks (although not at the same time).

The Pebblebee update ensures that clip universal can show a straw -off light and make a siren sound when users press quickly and repeatedly on the device. Previously, the light of the clip was mainly to help people find their things in the dark. Clip owners can add the warning function via an update in the Pebblebee Companion app.

Clip owners now have the option to set a safety circle for alert; Members of the circle receive “direct emergency reports” when the panic alarm of the clip is activated, said the announcement of Pebble. Alert reports are sent “via the Pebblebee app and Backend services … as long as your phone is in the area”, per Pebblebee.

    Updates for good use

The alert update of Pebblebee reminds us that gadget companies are able to publish software updates that benefit users and are not aimed at company interests. It is a highlight of many other gadget updates that lock functions behind a payment wall, remove functions and/or fully brick human devices.
