The Mercedes-Benz CLA 2026 is good enough to make a believer of EV-Sceptics

And if you no longer have a SAP, the 800-Voltt architecture of the new CLA charging rates up to 320 kW makes possible. That means theoretically 186 miles (300 km) in just 10 minutes.

So then, the promise is for a better -looking, better driving, more offered, longer reach and faster loading EV. That sounds like a winning bet, but Mercedes still has a hedge. I did not only increase the electric CLA in Sweden. I also tried in the 48-volt hybrid version.

Yes, there is a new CLA for you, even if you are still not on board with the EV revolution. This is built around a 1.5 l four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor that is integrated with an eight-speed transmission with double clutch. Motor production is assessed on 188 hp (140 kW), plus an extra 27 hp (20 kW) of the electric motor.

That is enough to control the car up to 62 MPH (100 km / h) without running the gasoline engine, but with only 1.3 kWh battery at its disposal, you do not go far without combustion. Mercedes does not even quote a fully electric range. The engine arrives early and often.

During my time behind the wheel I could not switch off the engine. The engineers blamed the temperatures below. So I can't say how Sprightly will be the car without internal combustion. With that four -cylinder buzzing, the car was fairly exciting, the transmission slid smoothly through the gears. Righty strength, however, is certainly on the limited side. Everyone who gives acceleration must go for the other CLA, the one with the larger battery.

Mercedes-Benz may have a winner here with the new CLA.

I have looked at the interior of the two cars well, but unfortunately I can't talk about that yet. It is sufficient to say that it includes some tasteful and practical changes that must be received well. More about that.

Will the new CLA BEV Fortunes from Mercedes-Benz change? The first impressions are indeed very good. If it looks half as good as that concept, the promise of the range and is well priced, it should be a winner.

We don't have to wait long to find out what it looks like, but don't expect an answer to the competition until the car enters production later this year. Anyway, it's great to see all the tests in the EQXX that finally practices fruit. At first it tastes sweet.
