San Diego (AP) – One person was arrested after reports of a possible bomb threat on a flight from Hawaiian airlines on their way to the international airport of San Diego, which led to the evacuation of the plane, officials said.
The Airbus A330 on its way to Honolulu had just returned from the gate around 8:45 am on Monday when “a stewardess said the captain of the flight that a passenger reported a possible bomb on board,” said a statement from the port of San Diego Police.
The captain called police and SWAT officers and the FBI responded to search the plane. Nothing was found suspicious and there was no threat to travelers, the police statement said.
Hawaiian airlines said in a statement that “a guest was heard who made a threat to the safety of our plane” and the captain warned the authorities as a precaution.
“An arrest has been made,” said Port of San Diego spokesperson Brianne Mundy Page in an E -mail. There was no immediate information about a suspect or possible costs, but Page said that more details would be released later on Monday.
All 293 people on board Hawaiian Airlines Flight 15 were evacuated and transported by bus to a safe area.
“We work to get all guests Honolulu as quickly as possible,” said the airline's statement. “We are grateful for the professionalism and care for our flight attendants and pilots during this event.”
