“Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is the first time in 80 years that a great power has stepped in to conquer a sovereign nation. It is without justification, without provocation and without honor,” Romney said in a statement.

“Putin’s impunity predictably follows our lukewarm response to his past horrors in Georgia and Crimea, our naive attempts at a one-sided ‘reset’ and the shortsightedness of ‘America First’,” added the 2012 Republican presidential candidate.
“The ’80s called and we didn’t answer,” Romney said.
The Republican also criticized current US foreign policy.
“The danger of turning a blind eye to Putin’s tyranny again falls not only on the people of the nations he has violated, but also on America,” he said.
Romney also predicted that Russian President Vladimir Putin could continue his aggression.
“History shows that a tyrant’s hunger for conquest is never quenched,” he added.

“America and our allies must heed the call to protect freedom by subjecting Putin and Russia to the most severe economic punishments, by expelling them from global institutions and by working to expand and modernize our national defenses said Romney.
Romney predicted in 2012 that Russia was America’s “number one geopolitical enemy,” a comment that drew criticism from then-President Obama.
