Some doge employees draw the salaries of six digits

Some employees of the so -called Ministry of Government Efficiency of Elon Musk attract robust salaries from the federal agencies that they cut and burn by the taxpayer, Wired has learned.

Jeremy Lewin, one of the doge employees who are responsible for dismantling USAID, who also played a role in Doge's raids in the National Institutes of Health and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, is mentioned as slightly more than $ 167,000 annually, has confirmed Wired. Lewin is assigned to the manager's office within the General Services Administration.

Kyle Schutt, a software engineer at the cyber security and infrastructure Security Agency, is mentioned as a salary of $ 195,200 via GSA, where he is assigned to the office of the deputy manager. That is the maximum amount that a “general schedule” federal employee can make annually, including bonuses. “You cannot be offered under any circumstances,” is the website of GSA Compensation and Benefitions.

Nate Cavanaugh, a 28-year-old Tech entrepreneur who has taken a visible internal role that GSA employees interviews as part of Doge's work at the agency, is mentioned as just over $ 120,500 a year. According to the official DOGE website, the average GSA employee earns $ 128,565 and worked at the desk for 13 years.

When Elon Musk started recruiting for Doge in November, he described the work as 'annoying' and noted that 'compensation is zero'. Wired reported earlier that the DOGE recruitment effort was partially dependent on a team of engineers associated with Peter Thiel and was performed on platforms such as Discord.

Since Trump took office in January, DOG has supervised aggressive dismissals within the GSA, including the recent elimination of 18F, the unit of the agency that focuses on technology efficiency. It also developed a plan to sell more than 500 government buildings.

Although Musk Doge has described as 'maximum transparent', it has not made its expenditure or salary ranges public. Financing for Doge had grown to around $ 40 million from 20 February according to a recent Propublica report. The White House did not respond to questions about the salary ranges for doge employees or how the budget is assigned to pay them.

Some doge team members, including Musk, are designated as 'special government employees', an advisory role that is limited to a working period of 130 days. These positions can be paid or unpaid; SGES who sign salaries above a certain figure must submit financial disclosure forms, but not the volunteers. This type of employee is not mandatory for the same rules as typical federal employees; They may continue to draw outdoor salaries and in some cases they do not have to announce any conflicts of interest. Other prominent SGE employees associated with Doge are top assistant Katie Miller, who continued her earlier Public Relations, through the transition and more than a month to the current administration. According to the Wall Street Journal Apple and a Golf League, the customers of her company had included the Wall Street Journal.
