Since the launch of Chatgpt in 2022 has set up an artificial intelligence racing in Silicon Valley, Google has tried to re -confirm his role as AI pioneer.
On Wednesday, Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, said that the company could lead the industry in artificial general intelligence when machines match or become smarter than people and employees worked harder.
“I recommend being at the office at least every weekday,” he wrote in a memo that was posted internally on Wednesday evening and was viewed by the New York Times. He added that “60 hours a week is the sweet spot of productivity” in the message to employees who work on Gemini, the line -up of Google of AI models and apps.
Mr. Brin's memo does not represent the official return-to-office policy of Google, where employees work at the office at least three days a week. A Google spokeswoman refused to comment.
Nevertheless, the memorandum emphasized Mr. Brin's conviction that Agi a long-wanted goal could be in computer use of reach. And it sheds more light on how he believes that Google could reach that technological jump.
“The competition is enormously accelerated and the last race to Agi is underway,” he wrote. “I think we have all the ingredients to win this race, but we will have to get our efforts.”
He emphasized the need for Google's employees to use more of his AI for coding, and said that the improvement of AI himself would lead to Agi, he also called on employees who work on Gemini to “be the most efficient Coders and AI scientists in the world by using our own AI”
More companies have reduced employees full -time to the office to improve productivity. In September Amazon said that his business employees should return to the office five days a week from 2025. AT&T, JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs have also reversed the hybrid work policy.
Mr. Brin returned to Google after the launch of Chatgpt, The Times reported to help the company navigate in the difficult moment when it lost its advantage in AI (Google had developed countless technologies that make chatbots such as chatgpt adept in writing things such as poetry, code and travel plans) he has since the Google deping a lot of time Task code codes.
In the two years since Mr Brin returned, Google has reorganized his company, renamed it AI and rolled out the technology in its popular apps – all in an attempt to win the race against OpenAi, Microsoft, Meta and others.
Google has released AI updates with a fast clip, which extends the availability of Gemini 2.0 models to people who use the chatbot app with the same name this month with the same name. Mr Brin warned employees against working more than 60 hours a week and said that it could lead to burnout. He also criticized employees who do not contribute enough to the efforts.
“A number of people work less than 60 hours and a small number in the absolute minimum to make ends meet,” he wrote. “The latter group is not only unproductive, but can also be very demoralizing for everyone.”
