Scranton -Man accused of serious mistreatment of a city police officer

    SCRANTON – A Stadsman pushed, pushed and threw a city police officer on the ground while trying to take him in custody on Thursday, the Scranton police.

    Eddie Charles Brent, 24, from 1522 Washburn St., then fled the stage in a stolen vehicle, according to a criminal complaint. The Scranton police arrested Brent after a short chase on Saturday. The police accused him of serious abuse of a police officer, fleeing the police and opposing arrest.

    Officers saw a gray Ford -Sedan who suited the description of a stolen car while they were on Mount Pleasant Drive just before midnight on Thursday Thursday.

    Officer Rebecca Kohut confirmed that the non -occupied Sedan was stolen and asked for back -up.

    A man walked Sheetz to the vehicle and unlocked it remotely.

    Kohut asked the man, later identified as a Brent, if the vehicle belonged to him. He said, “No,” opened the side door of the driver and tried to come in.

    Kohut told him he had to stop and took the handle of the car door to prevent him from closing.

    When Kohut opened the door, Brent pushed her.

    Kohut held Brent's arms and sleeves. Brent pushed Kohut on the floor while she kept holding his wrist.

    When she got back on her feet, he pushed her and threw her on the floor before he went into the sedan and started.

    Kohut took the door handle and ordered Brent to stop.

    Officer Brian Lynady approached the passenger side vehicle. He was unable to stop Brent and injured his elbow.

    Officers could not find the vehicle.

    On Saturday, officers Brent saw in the 1700 block of North Keyser Avenue in the stolen vehicle.

    When officer Joe Flesher blocked the vehicle at the Sunoco tank station, Brent left on foot.

    Officer TJ Stornable arrived to help, after Brent behind a waste container and pulled his taser.

    When Brent started walking to Flesher, Flesher pushed him against a wall. Officers took him to the ground and arrested him.

    Officers asked for an ambulance for Brent, who bleed from the left side of his forehead and elbow.
