No reason was given for the unexpected resignation of Starovoit. He was appointed Minister of Transport in May 2024 after having spent almost five years as governor of the Russian region of West -Kursk.
A few months after leaving that role, spill Ukrainian troops across the border to Kursk when Kyiv launched his biggest raid on Russian territory since the start of the war in 2022.
The predecessor of Starovoit as Minister of Transport, Vitaly Savelyev, became a Deputy Prime Minister. According to the Vedomosti Daily -Krant, the replacement of Starovoit would be his vice minister Andrei Nikitin, who was previously governor of the Novgorod region.
Before he served as a regional governor, Starovoit had worked in the transport sector, causing the Russian federal road agency Rosavtodor to led for six years.
