Russia says collapse of two bridges near Ukraine because of 'terrorism'

    At least seven people were killed and about 70 injured after the collapse of two bridges in two Russian regions that border Ukraine, local officials on Sunday, in what a coordinated Ukrainian attempt seems to be to disrupt Russian railway lines.

    Although Ukraine has so far not commented on the reports, the military intelligence service in Kiev said that a Russian freight train with military supplies from the Ukrainian mainland to Crimea, was blown early on Saturday in a Russian -occupied part of the southeastern region of Zaporizhzhya.

    Russian researchers have said that the overnight stay of the two bridges near the border with Ukraine was caused by 'terrorist deeds', according to the Interfax news agency.

    The twin deposit came one day for a possible second round of direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul.

    The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zensky on Sunday confirmed the participation of his country in the negotiations proposed by Russia and who are setting for Monday and said that the Ukrainian delegation would be led by Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov. But it is still to be seen whether Moscow will remain on the plan after the last attacks.

    Seven killed in Bryansk collapse

    At least seven people were killed and about 70 others were injured, including three children, after a passenger train derailed after the collective of the bridge in Bryansk, Governor Alexander Bogomaz said.

    Bogomaz also confirmed reports of an explosion on the bridge, about 80 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

    The train on the way from Klimovo to Moscow had worn 388 people, Bogomaz said on the state of television.

    One person was injured when a freight train derailed after another bridge collapsed at night into the neighboring Kursk, according to Alexander Khinshtein, the governor of the region that was partially occupied by Ukrainian troops for a few months.

    Part of the train crashed on a highway under the bridge and the locomotive caught fire, he said on Telegram.

    According to the first reports, the train driver was injured. The cause of the second collapse of the bridge is still unclear.

    According to the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone with the head of Russian Railways and Bryansk -Gouverneur Bogomaz after receiving reports about the incidents during the night.

    The Ukrainian intelligence service has repeatedly carried out sabotage and attacks on Russian territory while the country continues to defend the full invasion of Moscow on 24 February 2022.

    Military train explosion in occupied Ukraine

    While the Ukrainian army has so far not commented on the twin incidents, the intelligence service reported a train bump on Sunday in the occupied southwestern Ukraine.

    The military train on the way to the Black Zee peninsula with fuel tanks and trucks derailed as a result of an explosion early on Saturday, according to the statement.

    The explosion disturbed an important logistics route for the Russian army in the occupied territories of Zaporizhzhya and De Krim, said it.

    Russia annexed the Crimea illegally in 2014, before he occupied about one fifth of the mainland of Ukraine as part of the full invasion on a full scale.

    So far, Moscow has not commented on the claims.

    Russian attacks reported from Ukraine

    In the meantime, the Russian troops launched fresh drone attacks on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhya at night, said regional military governor Ivan Fedorov on Sunday.

    Critical infrastructure was touched and partially destroyed an administrative building, he wrote on Telegram. He did not respond to which facilities were struck.

    A fire had broken out on the site and a woman was injured, Fedorov said.

    At least seven Shahed drones made by Iran were involved in the attack, in which houses were also hit, he added.

    There were also reports of heavy drone and rocket fire from Zhytomyr, Cherkasy and the capital Kiev.

    The reports could not be verified independently.

    Russian strike hits military training unit

    Elsewhere in Ukraine, according to the army, at least 12 people were killed in a Russian rocket attack on an army training unit.

    More than 60 people were injured in Sunday's attack, according to a statement from the ground troops.

    According to the army, no roll -call or mass meeting took place during the attack, with most staff members in hiding places after the air raid.

    The army did not say where the attack took place.
