A Blueberry return has been upgraded to the highest possible level about contamination problems.
Alma Pak International LLC voluntarily remembered 400 boxes, with a weight of 30 pounds each, of his organic blueberries on 9 June because they tested positive on Listeria Monocytogenes, a pathogenic bacteria, during routine tests, according to the American Food and Drug Management (FDA).
On Tuesday, the FDA increased the blueberry reminder to a class I, the highest risk level. A class that I remember is “a situation in which there is a reasonable chance that the use of or exposure to a violent product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,” as noted by the FDA.
The recalled blueberries were sent to a single customer in North Carolina. The affected product can be identified by the party numbers: 13325 G1060 / 13325 G 1096.
As noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Listeria is a “bacteria that can contaminate many foods”, with infections caused by food with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Although the symptoms can vary, a Listeria infection can cause “invasive disease and intestinal disease.”

Listeria infection is the third most important cause of death due to food -handed diseases in the United States, killing around 260 people a year.
Many food products in the US have recently been recalled due to a Listeria risk. Last month FreshRealm's Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo products were recalled after the food safety and inspection service of the US Department of Agriculture said they might have been 'falsified' with the outbreak tribe of Listeria Monocytogenes.
The outbreak resulted in three dead, as well as one fetal loss and injured 17 people in 13 states, said civil servants.
The ready-made meals were sent nationwide to Walmart and Kroger locations from FreshRealM locations in San Clemente, California, Montezuma, Georgia and Indianapolis, Indiana, according to the authorities.
Also in June Bornstein Seafoods Inc published a recall on 44,550 pounds of his cooked and peeled ready-made cold-water-shrimp meat. This was after a routine sampling Listeria had detected monocytogenes in the shrimp.
The last two years have also seen an alarming and inexplicable increase in recall actions. In 2024, around 300 recall actions for food were published, whereby those recall actions were linked to nearly 1,400 diseases, a report from the research group of the public interest revealed.
Of the 1,400 diseases, 487 people became sick enough to require hospitalization and 19 people died. Although those numbers are still low when they are weighed against the entire American population, they are also double the number of hospital admissions and deaths due to food -weared diseases in 2023.
