Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Dn.y.) publicly criticized the stocks of the stocks of legislators and pointed to apparent inconsistency among the Democrats.
What happened: Ocasio-Cortez and Jon Stewart On Friday, their disapproval expressed about congress members who have shares and trade during a conversation on Stewart's Podcast 'The Weekly Show'.
During the podcast, Ocasio-Cortez emphasized what she sees as a “hypocrisy” within its own party with regard to this issue.
Don't miss it:
According to Ocasio-Cortez, the Democrats must ensure that their actions are in accordance with their words, and they pointed to trade with prior knowledge in the congress as a clear example of this hypocrisy.
“There must be Democrats who put the deed to the word and talk. There is an amazing amount of hypocrisy, and that hypocrisy is exploited to use cynicism and wherever there is a hypocritical window. For example, I think that one of the greatest example of this is trade with prior knowledge in the congress, “said Ocasio-Cortez.
“It's so strange. I mean, it's the end of the case. People think that ordinary people are stupid. I have something like:” Do you really think people don't see this shit? ” “”, Ocasio-Cortez added.
Stewart agreed with her and noticed that the positions that legislators take in committees give them access to prior knowledge that their trading portfolios could potentially improve.

“And then we have to pretend that the Republicans only corrupt?” said Ocasio-Cortez.
Both Ocasio-Cortez and Stewart disagree with the idea that the public is not aware of these practices. Their comments come into the aftermath of the increasing demand for a ban for legislators to act in shares.
