Noord -Korea pulls capsized warship upright after failed launch, says Report Says

Seoul (Reuters) -Oord -Korea seems to return to an upright position his affected Choe Hyun Class Destroyer who partially capsized during a failed launch ceremony, American researchers said Wednesday.

Leader Kim Jong Un, who witnessed the failed launch of the warship of 5,000 tons, said that the accident was damaged the dignity of the country and promised to punish those responsible.

Commercial satellite images of 2 June showed the destroyer for the first time since the accident of 21 May, the 38 North Program, which studies the nuclear arming north, said in a report.

Since the accident, Noord -Korea has said that it was holding various officials, and Kim ordered the ship to restore a ruling party meeting this month.

“Commercial satellite images shows employees in the port in Chongjin have taken an important step in the direction of that goal,” said 38 North in his report.

Employees were observed to draw tethers and possibly use balloons, in a manual attempt to straighten the ship, it added. The images still show the arch of the ship on the land, with possible damage to his sonarSection.

“To repair this, the ship must be moved from the water to a large floating dry dock or an engraving dock as soon as they float,” said 38 North. “However, the Chongjin shipyard does not offer this infrastructure.”

The shipyard of the east coast has mainly proved to be freight and fishing vessels and lacks a considerable expertise in the launch of major warships such as the new torpedo hunter, other military experts have said.
