New owner of Boston Celtics solves NBA Rule problem, will close the sale (report)

The Celtics $ 6.1 billion sales to leading owner Bill Chishholm and his group is expected to be completed within the following week according to a new report from Front Office sports.

Chisholm is said to look for extra investors for his group as recently as last week. However, FOS reports that Chishholm has found enough investors for his group to complete the purchase and even “surpassed” per two sources.

Chishholm has also protected the necessary financing to ensure that the deal meets the rules for private equity's rules of the NBA. A global investment firm called Sixth Street will be an investor in the deal, but should not be the largest stakeholder per competition rules. It is unclear how great of an interest that Chisholm will have in the team, but he has to buy at least 15 percent of the price tag of $ 6.1 billion per competition.

Current Celtics Minority co-owner Robert Hale, Bruce A. Beal Jr. And Sixth Street are other well -known investors in the purchase next to Chisholm.

The Governor of Celtics WYC Grousbeck hinted last month in an interview with WBZ that the sales process of the team went smoothly.

“I think this can be a really positive transformation,” said Grousbeck. “It's going to happen this summer, but it will certainly happen. I think we are excess. We have more capital than we even have room. Appreciation for those people who believe. Many former partners are now coming in, which is a new change, and that is great.

“So it's the old and the new mixes together. But there is new energy and there is new excitement. We have been in 22 years, my group, and now most of us are going in the future, including me. I doubles all my things and everything I have restored.

The Chishholm group will eventually take a controlling interest in the franchise if the deal is approved by the competition in the first part of a two -part sale, by 51 percent that takes place this summer. The current Governor WYC Grousbeck is expected to remain in his current role until the end of the sale in 2028.

The NBA Council of the board is expected to vote on the deal for definitive approval in June.
