New FPGA-driven Retro console makes the PlayStation, CD-ROM disk optional again

Retro spell lovers may already be familiar with analogue, a company that designs and produces updated versions of classical consoles that can play original games, but are also connected to modern televisions and monitors. The most recent of his announcements is the Analog 3D, a console designed to play Nintendo 64 cartridges.

Now a company called Retro Remake is reliving the console wars of the 1990s with its Superstation One, a new old game console that is designed to play original Sony PlayStation games with original accessories such as controllers and memory cards. Currently available as a pre-order of $ 180, Retro Remake expects the consoles to ship later than Q4 of 2025 at the latest.

The basic console is modeled on the redesigned PSONE console from mid-2000, late in the life cycle of the console to address buyers with a budget that could not afford a new Playstation. Card slots on the front, plus a USB-A port. But there are many modern facilities at the back, including a USB-C port for electricity, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port for new TVs, DIN10 and VGA ports that support analog video output and an Ethernet- port. Other analogue video outputs, including component and RCA outputs, are located on the sides behind small covers. The console also supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
