MSNBC's Ayman Mohyeldin said Sunday that Vice President Kamala Harris took the words freedom and liberties “straight out of the mouths of Republicans.”
While the GOP has been trying to use these words for years, Harris and his running mate Tim Walz are using them again in their campaign against Donald Trump.
Mohyeldin said there's a reason it works.
“Over the last few decades, Republicans have ceased to be the natural conduits for that message,” he said. “Not when they're the ones fighting tooth and nail to control women's bodies, or to control what books children can read, to control which bathrooms people can use.”
He noted that Beyoncé even gave Harris' campaign permission to use her song “Freedom” to help get the message across.
Mohyeldin said reclaiming freedom resonates not only with Democrats, but also with Republicans who don't want to vote for Trump.
