The Razr Fold will have a triple 50MP camera system. Some foldables, like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, have flagship-level main sensors, but the others are a big step down due to space constraints. Motorola will use a 50MP Sony Lytia sensor for the primary sensor, along with a 50MP ultrawide (with macro) and a 50MP 3x telephoto. The camera module adds quite a bit to the back panel – it looks like it almost doubles the phone's thickness in that area, but Moto hasn't released any official measurements to confirm that.
AI-infused software, of course
Motorola gives a few hints about how the software on this phone will work, but unsurprisingly there's a lot we don't know. For example, it will launch in the summer, does that mean it will run Android 17? Google has changed its 2025 release schedule to account for the plethora of new Android devices launching each summer.
We're also told that the Razr Fold's software will take advantage of the form factor with “flexible layouts, “adaptive interfaces” and “multitasking improvements.” The company declined to explain how these will work. Motorola will continue to offer AI features like Catch Me Up and Pay Attention, but they will be joined by a new AI experience called Qira, which the company says will be accessible on both Motorola and Lenovo devices.
The idea is that Qira remembers your context from other devices so you can take action in different apps, create documents and receive supposedly useful reminders. Qira will launch soon on Lenovo laptops, followed shortly by Motorola phones in the Edge and Razr families. The new AI platform, which relies on technology from the likes of Microsoft and Perplexity, will be available on the Razr Fold at launch.
We also have no idea what Motorola will charge for this phone. Most book-style foldable phones cost around $2,000, and the components used in these phones aren't getting any cheaper. Many of them could even become much more expensive by 2026. When pressed, Motorola refuses to even provide an estimate of the suggested retail price. We should get more details on the Razr Fold's specs and pricing as the summer launch window approaches.
