Microsoft avoids EU nicely by breaking down teams from the office

Microsoft has avoided an EU fine after the American technology group had offered concessions on how it merges its teams and office products and ends a long-term antitrust research by the block regulators.

The probe, which started after a 2020 complaint from Slack, now part of Salesforce, accused Microsoft of abusing its market dominance by binding its video conference tool to its commonly used series of productivity applications.

Since the first complaint, Microsoft has had Office 365 teams in the EU, but critics said the changes were too narrow.

In May, the software giant of $ 3.7 trillion promised for seven years to continue the teams and office separation.

After a market test, Microsoft has since entered into additional obligations, such as publishing more information about so -called “interoperability” or the possibility to use its products with others made by Rivals.

The EU regulator have satisfied these new commitments, which said on Friday that it contributed to repairing fair competition and opening the market for other providers.
