Meeting with Trump 'F —– G disastrous' for democratic presidential hopeful

A Democratic Governor to run for President appeared alongside Donald Trump in what an “F — ING disastrous” meeting was branded by party insiders.

Gretchen Whitmer from Michigan said she was 'surprised' after she was invited to the Oval Office press conference, because she was originally planning to discuss privately with the president how rates she represents would disproportionately influence.

The meeting between Mrs. Whitmer, a leading Democratic figure, and Mr Trump came only a few hours after she was loudly and publicly distributed with the Democrats at rates and indicated that she would be willing to work with the president to help Michigan.

She was showered with praise by Mr. Trump during the on television on television signing of executive orders, who described her as a “very good person”.

“We are honored to have Gretchen Whitmer from Michigan, the great state of Michigan, – she has really done an excellent job,” he said, although he repeatedly not responding to one of the issues she had started discussing.

The two, however, had a conversation about the Asian carp, while Mr Trump signed an executive order with regard to the invasive fish species that are destroying the lake in Lake Michigan.

During the signing, which also included a decree to “make showers great again,” Mr Trump repeated his false claim that the 2020 elections had been set up.

Mrs Whitmer was just a few feet from his desk, because he also called for two probes from the Ministry of Justice in two of his critics.

Her office later issued a statement in which he stated that “her presence is not an approval of the actions or statements taken during that event”.

Democrats said she was “played” by the Trump government, with others who held doubts about her opportunities now winning the Democratic nomination in 2028.

“Just an F —– g disaster,” said a democratic employee who admires Mrs. Whitmer to NBC News. “It feels like it takes away a part of the momentum that she had as a politically smart swing-state dem.”

A national democratic strategist also told the outlet that it was a “massive indictment” on Mrs. Whitmer and her team to “be played absolutely” by the Oval Office stunt.

In an earlier policy speech with a 'consistent national strategy', Mrs Whitmer had shocked some in her party by trying to find a common basis with Mr Trump, giving insight into his 'motivations' behind his radical rollout of rates that have fueled a worldwide trade war.

In her speech, which came before Mr Trump announced that he paused rates in most countries, except China, she said that she broadly agreed with the use of rates, but criticized how they were implemented.

“Rates should be used as a scalpel, not a hammer,” said Mrs. Whitmer. “Unfortunately, it is unclear how this will strategically benefit the American economy or the American consumer.”

But she added: “We have to make more things in America – more cars and chips, more steel and ships. We do need fair trade.”

Mrs Whitmer, a double governor of a battlefield state who was tipped as an ongoing partner for Joe Biden in 2020, also called for two -part cooperation to strengthen American production. “There is much more common here than we think.”

The speech, which was largely aimed at boldness, was generally seen when Mrs. Whitmer fired the starting gun on a 2028 run.

The Governor seemed to try to paint himself as an alternative in the middle of the ground for Mr Trump those voices of both Democrats and Swing voters who chose to Mr Trump in 2024 could conquer because of issues and the economy.

Trying to prevent Mr. Trump or his administration from criticizing her directly, brought her at odds with other controversial Democrats, who are also considered future presidential hopefully and have been clear in their opposition to the rates.

Mrs Whitmer's comments only came a few hours before Mr. Trump's extraordinary U-turn on radical global rates, in which he gave a 90-day break about the taxes for all countries except China.

While his press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the last-minute closed was a clear example of the 'art of the deal', Mr. Trump himself later admitted that he had responded after people 'Yippy' and a 'small birgerer scared' in the midst of the unrest on the market.

The uncomfortable Oval Office audience was the second face-to-face encounter by Mr Whitmer with Mr. Trump since he took office.
