Does Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) need a reminder that he works for the government?
If so, he should check Twitter. The Florida senator was raked over the coal on Wednesday after he posted a video complaining about South Florida’s gas shortage.
“FOUR DAYS and they still can’t figure out how to get enough gas to South #Florida,” he tweeted alongside the clip, which offered no solutions or ideas.
As Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) and other commentators noted, “the ‘she’ here is you.'”
“You work for the government,” Ocasio-Cortez added, offering Rubio a list of suggestions. “As if the senator couldn’t possibly have the governor’s phone number. Try calling him! Find out what the problems are! Call the administrator! Give people specific updates!”
Many Twitter users asked Rubio to contact Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who was in South Carolina on Wednesday for an event ahead of an expected bid for the presidency in 2024.
The areas of Miami and Fort Lauderdale have been experiencing major gas shortages this week after a storm last week brought torrential rain and flooding to the region, leading to supply chain disruption and a wave of consumer panic buying.
