Many voters are undecided in the 2026 race of California and about democratic efforts to re -sign the Congress districts of the State in an attempt to combat the GOP efforts in other states, according to a new poll that was released on Friday.
In the first public survey since former vice -president Kamala Harris chose not to go for Governor, former Democratic Rep. Katie Porter The support of 18% of registered voters in California, while the Republican commentator Steve Hilton had the support of 12%, according to the Emerson College Poll. No other candidate in the vast field had support with double digits and 38% of voters said they were undecided.
The primary will take place on 2 June. The candidates still have to advertise aggressively or contact voters, so these figures can fluctuate wildly in the coming 10 months.

When asked about a special election that could take place in November, voters were divided over a proposed democratic attempt to sign congress districts again. A third of voters support the effort, a quarter opposes it and 42% were not certain, according to the poll.
Redistricting takes place typically after the counting of one decade, but California is considering a redesign from the center of the congress boundaries to combat potential movements of Texas and other GOP states to stimulate the number of republicans in the house and keep the gop under the control of the congress.
The state laws in California are expected to vote on evoking a special election on the issue after they have returned from Summer recess on August 18.
The poll of 1,000 Californian voters took place on 4 and 5 August and has a margin of error in both directions.
