Moscow (Reuters) -Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to go to a peace scheme for Ukraine, but Moscow's main objective is to achieve his goals, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the state of television in a clip that was published on Sunday.
Peskov said that the world was now used to the sometimes “hard” rhetoric of US President Donald Trump, but pointed out that Trump had also underlined in comments about Russia that he would continue to look for a peace agreement.
“President Putin has repeatedly spoke about his wish to bring the Ukrainian settlement into a peaceful conclusion as quickly as possible. This is a long process, it requires effort, and it is not easy,” Peskov said, television player Pavel Zarubin says.
“The most important thing for us is to achieve our goals. Our goals are clear,” said Peskov.
On Monday, Trump announced a more difficult attitude in Russia and promised a new wave of military aid to Ukraine, including Patriot Missile Defense Systems. He also gave Russia a 50-day deadline to agree to make a ceasefire or make additional sanctions.
