Kim Kardashian and Ye, formerly known as Kanye Wes, settled their divorce nearly two years after announcing their breakup, and West will pay $200,000 a month in child support to his ex-wife, according to court documents filed Tuesday.
The couple will share joint custody of their four children — North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3 — with equal access, though Kardashian will have the kids most of the time, sources told Entertainment Tonight and TMZ.
In September, on an episode of the “Mind Full” podcast, Ye described his co-parenting dynamic with his ex-wife, saying “she still has to, in fact 80% of the time, raise those kids.”
Kardashian and Ye also agreed to split the costs of health care, security and education costs, including private school tuition and fees and college expenses, according to documents Insider reviewed. The settlement also details how the former couple plans to divide a long list of assets, including their property, which will be divided based on their prenuptial agreement. Kardashian and Ye also agreed to wave spousal support.
After seven years of marriage, Kardashian filed for divorce from Ye in February 2021, citing irreconcilable differences, though the couple has been co-parenting their children since announcing the split. She later asked to be “legally single” after Ye failed to comply with her first divorce petition, which a judge granted in March earlier this year.
The settlement comes as the rapper has been hit by a wave of criticism over recent anti-Semitic tirades and remarks that led major brands like Adidas, Foot Locker and Gap to end their partnership with Ye’s fashion company Yeezy earlier this year.
Adding to his financial troubles, Ye also claimed in a podcast Monday that the IRS put $75 million in four of his accounts because he owed about $50 million in taxes.
“I found out — OK, so she froze, they put $75 million into four of my accounts,” Ye said during the podcast, referring to the IRS putting his accounts on hold. “And then they said you owe a lot in taxes. It took me about six hours to figure out how much ‘a lot’ was. They said, well, about $50 million.”
He went on to say that he was “obviously not the most financially savvy person in the world” and how he tried to figure out if he was avoiding taxes, adding that “now I’ve – I’m really learning how to run a business. I learn how to, you know, really count.”
“It’s like I didn’t even know where to put the money,” he said.
