A KFC employee saved the day over the weekend after calling police when a woman left a note pleading for help, according to court records.
Diego Glay, 23, is accused of evading arrest and kidnapping after allegedly holding a woman against her will.
On May 15, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to a kidnapping/kidnapping call just after 5 p.m. on the 6200 block of Winchester Road.
Officers were told by a KFC employee that a woman had left a note begging for help and describing the woman and man who were with her, the affidavit said.
Agents were able to contact Diego Glay and the woman who matched the description of the KFC employee.
According to the records, Glay refused to follow the orders of the officers and fled.
The suspect was arrested after a short foot chase.
The victim told police that Glay held her against her will with physical assaults, threats and being armed with a gun, records show. The victim said she and Glay had been in a relationship.
She also told officers that the suspect physically assaulted her by punching her in the face and when she tried to leave, she told officers he took her phone and blocked her from his line of sight for days, the affidavit said. †
According to officials, the suspect said he and the victim had lived in cheap, random hotels in the city.
Glay is due to appear in court on May 17 and his bail has been set at $35,000.
