Guidelines for Presidential Debates
The presidential debate will last 90 minutes with two commercial breaks, according to guidelines released by ABC last week. Candidates will have two minutes to respond to each question, two minutes for rebuttal and one minute for additional clarification, if needed. Microphones will be muted if the candidate is not answering a question.
Trump will deliver his closing statements before Harris. The 78-year-old candidate won a virtual coin toss, giving him first pick of where he would take the stage and deliver his closing statement. Trump chose stage left, while Harris will be on the right.
