Justice Dept. To drop the discrimination case against Elon Musk's SpaceX

The US Department of Justice said on Thursday that it would reject a business against the SpaceX of Elon Musk, in which the rocket company was accused of discriminating against people based on their citizenship status.

In a non -opposite motion submitted to the American court for the southern district of Texas, the Ministry of Justice said that it was planning to submit a notification of dismissal with prejudice, which means that prosecutors could not reserve these charges again.

The motion did not say why the case was put down.

The Ministry of Justice had submitted the case against SpaceX on August 23, 2023 and accused the company of violating federal law in its recruitment practices.

SpaceX did not take into account applications from refugees and people who received asylum in the United States, the department said. SpaceX also discouraged refugees and asylees to request jobs, refused to hire them, even when they were qualified and repeatedly rejected them because of their citizenship status, the department said.

Mr. Musk had said at the time that SpaceX was told that it could not hire anyone who was not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States due to export control wettes. “This is another case of armament of the Doj for political purposes,” he had posted X.

The Ministry of Justice had rejected that position and said that the export controls did not have such limitations.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
