Jason Citron from Discord jerks as CEO of the Social Chat app

Jason Citron, co-founder of the popular Social Chat App Discord, jerked off on Wednesday as chief executive of the company, a significant management shaking for the potential public offer of Discord.

The new Chief Executive will be Humam Sakhnini, a 15-year-old veteran of the video game industry, Mr Citron said in a statement. Mr. Sakhnini was previously vice -chairman at Activision, the gaming publisher behind titles such as Call of Duty and Candy Crush.

Discord is already in conversation to become public in this year and was appreciated by private investors in 2021 by around $ 15 billion. The app is especially popular with gamers and has more than 200 million users.

Mr Citron remains on the board of the company and his adviser to Mr Sakhnini, he said in the statement. Mr. Sakhnini helped with the supervision of Activision when Microsoft bought it for $ 69 billion in 2023 and the company left shortly after the takeover.

In an interview with Venturebeat, a gaming publication that previously reported on management change, Mr Citron said that he was “more a builder, a kind of guy at an early stage”, and that “hiring someone like a humam is a step in that direction” of a public offer “of a public offer.

Discord was founded in 2015 by Mr Citron and Stanislav Vishnevskiy, who had started a video stud studio and invented a tool for people to communicate while playing games.

The company grew over the years and became especially popular during the pandemic, when the interest in video games peaked. In 2021, Discord had conversations with Microsoft about an acquisition of $ 10 billion, although no deal was closed.

Last year, during a conference hearing, Mr Citron testified about online child safety, where senators him and the chief executives of Meta, Tiktok and X have canceled on their social media platforms grilled.

Discord mainly earns money from his Premium Subscription Service, but in recent years it has expanded its income from advertising and so -called microtransactions by people using the app.
