The cyber attack on Jaguar Land Rover is estimated to have cost Britain at least £1.9 billion in what is likely to be “the most economically damaging cyber event” for the country.
The months-long shutdown of internal systems and production at JLR has affected more than 5,000 UK organisations, according to an analysis by the Cyber Monitoring Centre, a non-profit organization that monitors the severity of cyber events in Britain.
“This incident appears to be by far the most financially damaging cyber event to ever hit Britain,” said Ciaran Martin, former head of the National Cyber Security Center and chair of CMC's technical committee.
