Iowa Man dies after the shooting of 2 neighbors and his house set fire to officials

Glenwood, Iowa (AP)-A 71-year-old man who shot and killed two neighbors and then set his house on fire in a small city in Iowa died of burns, the authorities said.

Dennis Burnell had extensive burns when he left his house on Wednesday evening and died on Friday at the Kansas University Medical Center Burn Unit, said the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation in a press release.

After a dispute, Burnell shot the 38-year-old Brandon Oman and his wife, the 35-year-old Stevie Oman, outside his house in Glenwood, said researchers. The Omans lived across the street of Burnell, according to the online real estate records of the Mills County Assessor. The couple has a daughter, according to their death reports.

Witnesses told the police that there was an explosion in the House of Burnell for the fire, and the officers who responded to reports of the shooting found the house inflated in flames.

In the past, law enforcement had been called to Burnell's house for disputes, said Glenwood police chief Eric Johanhans in the hours after the shooting.

Online judicial documents show that Burnell was found guilty of the third degree intimidation of one of his other neighbors and more than $ 100 fined in August.
