Indonesia School collapse Dodentol is rising to 36, searching for bodies continues

    Jakarta (Reuters) -The number of students who were confirmed to death after the collapse of an Islamic boarding -up building in Indonesia rose to 36, from 16 a day earlier, said the land office of the country on Sunday.

    The efforts lasted a seventh day to look for the bodies of 27 students who were still missing missing – usually teenage boys from the age of 13 to 19 – caught under the rubble, the agency said.

    Cranes were used to dig up debris and search and evacuation efforts were completed 60%, according to the agency, which said it expected to erase all the rubble and end the search on Monday.

    The Al Khoziny School in the city of Sidoarjo in the province of Oost -Java collapsed last Monday and collapsed on hundreds of teenagers during the afternoon prayers, the basis is unable to support continuous construction work on the upper floors.

    On Friday, rescuers received the consent from the parents to use heavy equipment after not finding signs of life during previous efforts.

    Saviders groove through tunnels in the remains of the building, proclaimed the names of the boys and use sensors to detect a movement, but found no signs of life.

    Al Khoziny is an Islamic boarding school that is known locally as a pesantren.

    Indonesia, the world's largest nation of Muslim majority, has around 42,000 pesantren that serve 7 million students, according to data from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
