Rick Ross’s buffaloes have escaped from his Promise Land estate and gone to a neighbor’s yard, much to her chagrin, according to a report from TMZ.
Rapper and rancher Ross, who lives in Fayetteville, Georgia, keeps several animals on the property, including horses, cows, and a few buffaloes, one of whom is named Timbuktu. The buffaloes were given to Ross for his birthday last year by the clothing company Ethika as he expanded his farm.
The unnamed woman, who lives on a piece of land behind the rapper’s property, told TMZ that the 2,000-pound animals had entered her lawn twice this week, leading her to fear for the safety of her two young children.
She also shared a video of the animals tearing through her yard and chewing on her grass. In the video, a group of people can be seen leading the buffalo pair – along with a cow – away from her property.
The woman said the incident led her to try to confront Ross, but ended up speaking only to a member of his team. She told TMZ she plans to file a neighbor dispute with the city.
In response to headlines about his animals fleeing his farm, Ross took to his Instagram story Sunday afternoon to make a statement — and allay fears of his huge animals.
“They’re just grazers, they’re not carnivores,” Ross said in a story.
Ross explained that the animals had escaped due to work he was doing on his property and confirmed that members of his team were the group that rounded up the escaped animals.
He also asked those listening to his online statement to “always collar their animals” – although he contradicted himself by saying he did not wear a collar on his buffalo.
And for anyone who wants an explanation and response for my bulls, my cows, a few buffaloes that have escaped into the community, here’s my answer: I always return strays. Make sure you always put a collar on your animal. And mine has no collar, because you know it’s mine.”
Ross continued: “So when you see my buffalo give him a carrot, give him an apple. They’re so nice. They’re so peaceful. Thank you everyone for watching. Thank you everyone for making sure my animals came back in the Promised Land.”
In January, Ross took to his Instagram story to share a conspiracy theory about Tesla, saying he feared the semi-autonomous vehicle could be remote-controlled to take him to authorities against his will.
Ross representatives did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
