I have replaced my Tesla Model 3 with a BYD seal. I don't want anything to do with Elon Musk anymore.

    • Kevin Bond bought a Tesla Model 3 with money from his retirement after he retired.

    • 5 years later he replaced it with a BYD seal after he felt uncomfortable with the actions of Elon Musk.

    • Bond said that the seal was built faster and better than Model 3, with a nicer interior.

This share-to-essay is based on a conversation with Kevin Bond, a retired director of mental health care from Devon, VK, about changing his Tesla Model 3 for a BYD seal. It is processed for length and clarity.

I lived in Devon for three years. I am now retired, but I was director of mental health care and the chief executive of a non-profit health and social healthcare company.

I bought the Tesla Model 3 in 2020 when I retired, with the fixed amount you get with your professional pension for my wife.

We sold it about three months ago. It just felt really uncomfortable that a few cents of our money would go everywhere near Elon Musk.

I always felt a bit uncomfortable with musk, but as time went, my wife and I became more uncomfortable.

I think there is a point where it is more than just unpleasant, and you believe that this man actively creates hate and distribution between people.

When the [Southport] Riots happened, it felt like he was windy the flames. I don't feel comfortable there at all and I don't want to be associated with it.

I think he got over a line. His support for the extreme right -wing parties in Germany and his distribution of wrong information is simply shameful.

    Model 3 Misery

If I am honest, I have never liked the Model 3.

It was not to be denied that when you came in for the first time, it was exciting. You put down your foot and it goes very quickly. But it wasn't very comfortable for me.

The seats were not made well and the interior was cheap and filthy. Many of the important settings were adjusted via the screen, so your eyes were off the road when they should have been on the road.

The doors were not mounted so well, so you got a lot of cabinelruis, and after a few years the suspension began to beep heavily.

It just felt cheap. Personally, I didn't think it was composed very well.

Initially the service was OK, but after a few years the answer was terrible. It is probably the worst service I have ever had from a car dealer.

When we sold the Tesla, it had the worst depreciation of every car I ever owned. We sold it for just over £ 10,000 [$13,500] After buying nearly £ 50,000.

When we were looking for a new car, I thought we should make a compromise.

What we found was that there are quite a few cars that Tesla caught up and overtaken, both in terms of quality, but also on reach and price.

We have the BYD sealing around the same time that we sold the Tesla. We bought an ex-demonstration vehicle that was one year old.

It is faster than the Tesla – it speeds up 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds – and it has a longer range. You can also charge it at 100% without damaging the battery.

It is just a beautifully built car and very comfortable. If you close the doors, they will go thin as they should, and there is no wind sound in the cabin.

It has environmental lighting, ventilated seats and head-up displays, all the things you would expect in a car for which you pay a lot of money.

It is difficult to find things to make a mistake. The media system is a bit awkward and glitchy and it is a little slower to charge. However, we do most of our charging at home, and with the seal with more range, the slower loading time is not really a problem.

It drives beautifully on the road. You would place it through a corner in a way that I would not drive in the Tesla. It feels safe and it feels solid.

If I could give scores, I would give the BYD nine out of ten and probably one in ten for the Tesla.
