For years Maciej “Groobo” Maselewski was the undisputed champion of Diablo Speedrunning. His 3-minute, 12-second wizard run looked virtually unbeatable thanks to a combination of powerful (and permitted) glitch exploits, along with what looked like some incredible happiness in the randomly generated dungeon of the game.
But when a team of other Speedrunners started to try and not to replicate that happiness with external software and analysis tools, the story began to fall apart behind Groobo's Run. As the inconsistencies began to set up in the run, that team would perform an automated search through billions of legitimate Diablo Dungeons to prove without a doubt that the game of Groobo could not have taken place in any of them.
“We just had a lot of curiosity and resentment that led us to dig deeper,” team member Staphen told Ars Technica to their research. “Corryal can be another way to describe it,” team member Ajenbo added. “To find out that this had been done illegally … and the person had both received a praise for his performance.”
If we have unmerited happiness
If you are familiar with Diablo Or Speedrunning, looking at Groobo's Run feels like someone wins the lottery. Firstly, there is the dungeon himself, who has a series of stairs that only appear steps apart, so that a fast and enemy free path is formed to the deeper levels of the dungeon. Then there is Groobo's Lucky Find from Naj's Puzzler on level 9, a unique item that requires telephosing for many of the late game maneuvers of the run.

“It seemed very unusual that we would have so many levels with the upper floor and the ground floor next to each other,” Allan told “Dwangoac” Cecil to Ars Technica. “We wanted to find a way to replicate this.”
When Cecil and a team of tool-assisted speed runners (TAS) started searching process last February, they said they used Groobo's Run as a basic line to try to improve. While Groobo apparently had to rely on his own human happiness in preparing his run, the Bagers could use techniques and tools from outside the game to replicate the Grooboo (or something very similar) every time.
