The Motorsport department of Honda must do some spring cleaning. Today, the Honda Racing Corporation announced that it goes into the memorabilia and offers parts and even entire vehicles for fans and collectors. And to kick things off, it will be a few components of the RA100E V10 engines that the McLaren Honda MP4/5BS of Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger driven to both F1 titles in 1990.
“We want to make this a valuable company with which fans who love F1, MotoGP and various other breeds can share in the history of Honda's challenges in racing since the 1950s,” said Koi Watanabe, president of HRC, “including our fans to be part of the racing history of Honda, but a continuous company that we will grow.”
The pieces of the V10s of Senna and Berger go on the auction on Monterey Car Week later this year, and the plots will contain some of the parts that are seen on the photo above: CAM -Covers, camshafts, pistons and Conrods, with a certificate of authenticity and a display. And HRC goes through its collections to see what even more can separate from, including “heritage machines and parts” from Indycar, and “important racing engine bikes”.
