Fernandes showed the video of the attack to parents at Heritage High School.

“Oh my god, hit her. Okay, is that girl in jail,” a parent replied.

According to students, the girl was taken to juvenile detention after the incident. Rockdale County School District officials say the student has been suspended from school but will face criminal charges.

The video shows a teen going in her teacher’s face before placing her hands on the teacher.

Another parent says there’s never a reason for things to go this far.

“All those other kids should have gotten up and done something,” she said. “I mean why do you let them treat a teacher like that?”

Channel 2 spoke to a student who witnessed the whole incident. We do not identify the student.

“It wasn’t scary, it was shocking,” he said. “She’s a pretty good teacher, but the way she talks, she talks aggressively. How she talks to children is not the right way to talk to them.

“What I think is the problem is that the teachers don’t take classes on how to interact with children,” his mother said. “You need to learn de-escalation techniques to help those kids instead of making a situation worse.”

School administrators say they are still investigating the attack but say violence against staff will not be tolerated.
