“He didn't like that”

The former high school friend of Stephen Miller claimed that the future deputy Staff Chef of the White House ended their friendship more than two decades ago because of his Spanish heritage.

“One of the things he said was that he didn't like the fact that I am from the Latin heritage,” Jason Islas recalled.

Islas said that Miller, the architect of some of the most controversial anti-immigration policy of the Trump government, dumped him because of his ethnicity when the former friends left their Santa Monica Middle School in California and moved to secondary school.

Islas, Miller and another nameless friend were described as a “close bond of outsiders” at Lincoln Middle School, whose hobbies were about Star Trek, Rolling stone Reports. (Miller, Islas told the Outlet, was a “big captain Kirk fan.”)

Once good friends, Islas said he was attending Millers Bar Mitswa.

But in 1999, between the eighth and ninth degrees, Islas said Miller said that they “could no longer be friends,” reports the outlet.

The end of their friendship could also be seen in a Miller Biography that was released earlier this year, Hatemonger: Stephen Miller, Donald Trump and the white nationalist agenda, By journalist Jean Guerrero.

“The conversation was remarkably calm,” Islas is quoted in the book. “He expressed hatred for me in a calm, cool, clear way.”

As a child, Miller is said to tell Spanish speakers at his diverse high school in South California to learn English or go back to their home country, according to the book. Miller's more extremist views began to form in high school, according to his former friends and classmates. An article written by a 16-year-old Miller shows contempt for Spanish students at his school.

“When I went to Santa Monica High School in ninth grade, I noticed that a number of students had no basic skills,” Miller wrote in a letter to the editor of website Surfsantamonica. “There are usually very few or no Spanish students in my honors lessons, despite the large number of Spanish students who go to our school.”

The independent has contacted the White House for comment.

Miller's views became more radical at the university. While studying political sciences at Duke University, Miller's column for the University newspaper, The chronicle“Waves made on campus” because of Millers “often controversial takes,” said the newspaper.
