Cairo (Reuters) -The Palestinian militant group Hamas confirmed the death of Gaza's military chef Mohammad Sinwar on Saturday, a few months after Israel told him to kill him in a strike in May.
Hamas did not give any details about the death of Sinwar, but published photos of him together with other group leaders and described them as “Martelaren”.
Mohammad Sinwar was the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, the chief of the Islamist faction, who compiled the attack of 7 October 2023 on Israel, and who had killed Israel in fight a year later.
After the death of the brother, he was elevated to the highest ranks of the group.
His confirmed death would be his closest employee Izz al-Din Haddad, who is currently supervising operations in North Gaza, the management of the armed wing of Hamas over the entire enclave.
