    • GOP Representative Mayra Flores criticized voters for staying home after losing a competitive seat in the House.

    • “DO NOT CLOTH OVER THE RESULTS IF YOU DON’T DO YOUR PART!” she said on Twitter.

    • Democratic Representative Vicente Gonzalez defeated Flores in Texas’s 34th congressional district.

Texas GOP Rep. Mayra Flores wasted no time tearing up her voters after she lost a competitive seat in the House in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

“The RED WAVE Didn’t Happen. Republicans and Independents Stayed at Home,” Flores said on Twitter. “DO NOT CLOTH OVER THE RESULTS IF YOU DON’T DO YOUR PART!”

Flores lost to Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez Tuesday in Texas’s 34th congressional district, which was a rare match between two sitting members of Congress.

Earlier on Tuesday, Flores tweeted a photo Photoshopped to show a red-colored wave and said “TODAY’S FORECAST,” a vote of confidence that Republicans were ready to win many of their elections.

But early election results show Democrats are stronger than expected, picking up toss-ups and having competitive districts.

Born in 1986 in Burgos Tamaulipas, Mexico, Flores immigrated to the US at age six, eventually making history when she became the first Mexican-born member of the US House after winning a special election in June.

Early Wednesday morning after the race was called against her, Flores thanks those who “invested” in her campaign.

“Thank you to every person who has poured their love, sweat and tears into this community. They know who they are and I will always be grateful to them,” she said.
