Choosing the Google Store credit of $ 100 may seem like the better option, but there is also a warning there. The discount only applies to Pixel telephones and only to devices that are no different for sale.
The big question: Why?
As we noticed when Google announced the update for the first time, many Pixel 4A batteries are now four to five years old. Some are held as a secondary (or “junk -drawer”) telephones, and many are already at a reduced capacity, especially at low load levels and in cold conditions. If each Pixel phone received this old one battery average definitive update, intended to prevent sudden closures (related to Apple's originally unannounced iPhone, there would not be entirely the amount of protest and confusion that is available now.
But Google did not say why certain Pixel 4A telephones are “affected devices” and others are not. It has not clarified which problem is so remarkable or serious to push an automatic update from 2020 to a phone, so that the battery life is almost decimated. No news or community reports have surfaced yet from Pixel 4A devices that cause fires, or even simply fail after four years. It is an automatic update with a strong solution, but for what?
The Google support page only states that the update “will improve the stability of their battery performance.” This is where in the sense that if you stop using a seriously covered pixel 4A, the battery can offer a stable amount of output (none) in the future.
Google Support staff has proposed to more than one 4A owner that another future update could force a factory reset and automatic update. That did not pass, at least in the time lines proposed by support staff. But all this raises the question of how this confusing process is better than a traditional recall, if there is really a kind of danger, for device or person, with a certain set of batteries.
